Unit Charge Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Unit Charge Nurse to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a Unit Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the daily operations of a specific shift on a clinical unit. You will supervise staff, facilitate communication with physicians and internal administrators, and provide optimal patient and family-centered care.

- Recognized as a change agent and lead efforts to strengthen organizational systems that support the mission, vision, and values of the department.
- Adept at creative problem-solving, negotiating conflict, and collaborating with others.
- Demonstrate insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking.
- Role model expert communication skills to colleagues through example.
- Complete employee conference, risk management, and unit management reports within specified time frames.
- Identify the need for revision and evaluate the effectiveness of operational forms.
- Provide and coordinate the resources needed within the unit to provide optimal patient outcomes.
- Role model time management skills through example.
- Ensure compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for the unit.
- Remain informed of innovative clinical trends through benchmarking and evidence-based practice.
- Function as charge nurse.
- Mentor other Registered Nurses to the role and functions of Charge Nurse.
- Evaluate the use of resources and cost containment activities.
- Lead and coordinate team behavior between staff members and actively foster the development of leadership skills in others.
- Demonstrate and role model effective communication skills.
- Take a leadership role in building and maintaining an environment that fosters open and candid communication.
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Two years experience as an RN with a minimum of two years of experience in the area of concentration.
- Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
- Certification preferred.
- BLS required.
- If promoted internally or hired externally, the incumbent must complete UCN/SNM criteria requirements within nine months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488, completion of formal preceptor training workshop, and enrollment in LEAP course.
