Cogen Operations Training Specialist

The Process Lead is tasked with the preparation, development, and administration of training initiatives for both hourly and salaried personnel, ensuring the implementation of Safe Work and various safety protocols.

Preferred Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in Business or higher.

Desired Experience:

  • Over 5 years of leadership and management experience.
  • Proven safety record and awareness.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement.
  • Required background in power plant operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Concentrate on daily process enhancement, employee training, and change management.
  • Encourage employees to propose ideas for operational, efficiency, and safety enhancements.
  • Oversee and facilitate Continuous Colleague Development initiatives across the Cogen.
  • Adhere to and integrate all safety, quality, and site regulations while executing work and developing training protocols.
  • Interpret and utilize plant documentation such as Process Manuals, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Permits.
  • Assist in the design and creation of training materials and assessments, along with learning and certification plans.
  • Deliver educational content for both classroom and field training, while also developing others to do the same.
  • Facilitate written and performance evaluations, along with essential remediation strategies.
  • Provide constructive feedback and mentorship throughout the operator qualification process.
  • Manage the site's onboarding training and oversee the mentoring program.
  • Evaluate surveys, assessments, field audits, and key performance indicators to assess training effectiveness.
  • Enhance skills to include adult learning techniques and provide one-on-one coaching, field training, small group sessions, and formal instruction.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with other members of the cogeneration supervisory team.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating and emergency procedures for the area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder occasionally.

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to walk and sit for 1-3 hours.
  • Able to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and potentially dusty or wet environments.

Equipment Utilization:

  • Frequent use of computers.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, and outdoor weather conditions, along with potential exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, and vibrations.
