About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Government Affairs Director to join our Federal Government Affairs team in Washington D.C. This role will play a critical part in supporting and advancing Abbott's interests before Congress, federal agencies, and trade/business associations.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of public policy analysis and strategy formulation for all Abbott businesses, as well as experience in developing and implementing strategic plans to effectively address issues that impact our company.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze legislative and executive branch/regulatory activities to assess their impact on Abbott.
  • Develop strategic plans and recommendations to influence legislative and agency actions.
  • Implement action plans by working with stakeholders, including business and corporate personnel, outside allies, coalitions, and trade associations.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with opinion leaders and policymakers to advance and protect Abbott's interests and reputation.
Requirements
  • Ten years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility and expertise in the public sector government affairs is required.
  • Involvement and success in influencing the development of policy, as well as knowledge of the political process, is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's degree in political science, public policy, public health, or MBA/JD being a plus.
