A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME LIFEGUARD

Position Summary

The role involves enforcing safety regulations to ensure the well-being of patrons, providing assistance when necessary, and managing equipment setup and takedown for daily and special events.

This position operates under close supervision following established procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise pool activities; enforce safety rules and regulations; ensure the welfare of patrons; monitor activities to prevent accidents.
  • Assist swimmers and patrons, delivering exceptional customer service while overseeing the daily operations of the natatorium.
  • Act as a lifeguard, ensuring the safety of aquatic facility users; enforce safety policies; initiate rescues and administer First Aid and/or CPR as needed.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all facility users, including members, class participants, facility renters, and athletes and coaches from local schools and clubs.
  • Conduct daily maintenance tasks, including cleaning the deck, restrooms, grounds, and building. Report any unsafe conditions or equipment issues to management immediately.
  • Regularly check and document pool chemical levels every two hours to maintain a safe swimming environment.
  • Manage lane lines as required, ensuring lanes are properly marked for reservations throughout the day.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in bi-weekly training sessions to practice skills and maintain certifications.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Work during days, evenings, and weekends as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Completion of high school is not required for this entry-level position.
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
  • Some experience as a lifeguard or in a related field is preferred.
