The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director for Emergency Response and Resilience to join our team. As a key member of our Asset & Capital Management (A&CM) Division, you will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and implementing emergency responses on behalf of the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of NYCHA residents and staff.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community groups, to coordinate emergency responses and ensure effective communication.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to property management departments to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, as well as HUD regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and evaluations to identify potential emergency situations and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans following emergency events to ensure timely and effective recovery.
- Manage and coordinate emergency response activities, including vendor management, resource allocation, and communication with stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and direction to team members, ensuring effective decision-making and timely escalation of issues.
- Prepare and negotiate change orders, and initiate and approve change orders in eBuilder.
- Conduct meetings with contractors and leverage their services to support daily tasks.
- Provide timely and accurate project updates through various communication channels.
- Manage and review project schedules and updates, and provide awareness to stakeholders and upper management.
- Attend meetings and conduct meetings as required, and ensure projects are closed out timely and appropriately in eBuilder.
- Seven years of full-time satisfactory experience working at a construction trade or working as an inspector of construction, hoists and rigging, plumbing, boilers, or elevators; at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity.
- At least two years of experience, as described above, at least 18 months of which must have been in a managerial or administrative capacity, and a license as a professional engineer or registered architect issued pursuant to the education law.
- Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
