Certified Medical Assistant with X-Ray and Phlebotomy Expertise in Pediatrics

Responsibilities:
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our pediatric patients. Your duties will include:

  • Welcoming patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Assisting in the assessment process, including measuring height, weight, vital signs, and reviewing current medications.
  • Supporting compliance with SAMHSA grant requirements and UDS data collection.
  • Administering medical and psychiatric screening tools as necessary.
  • Administering injections while adhering to the Seven Rights of medication administration.
  • Effectively communicating with the treatment team regarding patients' physical and mental health.
  • Reporting laboratory results to the supervising physician or CRNP.
  • Responding promptly to patient inquiries via phone.
  • Processing prescriptions as directed by authorized prescribers.
  • Facilitating prior authorizations for medications.
  • Updating patient medical records accurately.
  • Coordinating hospital admissions and laboratory services.
  • Scheduling appointments with external healthcare providers.
  • Assisting in the collection and preparation of laboratory specimens.
  • Providing patient education regarding medications and dietary needs.
  • Performing blood draws as instructed.
  • Delivering emergency care as required, following AltaPointe policies.
  • Recognizing crisis situations and employing de-escalation techniques.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in Medical Assistant competencies.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate processing of releases of information.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and entering data into the electronic health record.
  • Performing clerical tasks such as copying and faxing documents.
  • Upholding professional ethical standards.

Supervision and Consultation:
Engaging in clinical supervision and seeking consultation as needed.

Clinical Record Keeping:
Maintaining timely and accurate documentation in accordance with AltaPointe policies.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:
  • Current certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting with expertise in phlebotomy and X-ray.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy amidst frequent interruptions.

Knowledge in the following areas is expected to be acquired within six months of employment:

  • Basic nursing care principles.
  • Understanding of psychiatric disorders.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Safe medication administration practices, including intramuscular injections.
  • Crisis intervention techniques.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records.
  • Awareness of cultural diversity.
  • Principles of Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Basic clerical skills and proficiency with standard office equipment.
