Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

UF Health Laboratories is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures, working closely with laboratory technologists, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our laboratory services.

Responsibilities:
  • Meet attendance policy requirements, including absence and tardiness
  • Leave the bench assigned stocked, communicate clearly with other shifts using logs, verbal notes, or other appropriate tools
  • Complete assigned work as scheduled within the allotted time frame, including turnaround time and proficiency testing
  • Perform routine patient testing, including identification, preparation, specimen collection, handling, processing, testing, and reporting, as well as critical results according to laboratory standards
  • Report and record timely and correctly, including patient, QC, proficiency testing, and preventative maintenance records
  • Operate assigned laboratory instruments, including reviewing QC, maintenance, and function checks
  • Engage in departmental meetings, participate in PI projects, educational offerings to peers, mentoring/precepting of new team members
  • Attend staff meetings, complete all required competencies, and mandatory education as assigned
  • Seek training, educational, certification, and enhancement in area focus/specialty
  • Demonstrate behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients, and family members
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (preferred), Associates degree in MLT or related field (required), Certificate training program at an approved school for Medical Technician level training leading to state licensure
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Florida License TC - Laboratory Clinical Technician
  • Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience Required: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, Previous laboratory experience preferred
