LifeStream Behavioral Center is a leading provider of behavioral health and social services. We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to our healthcare department. This will include tasks such as maintaining electronic health records, answering telephones, and updating patient medical records.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment. They will also be well-versed in psychiatry and able to understand mental status and the use of psychotropic medications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Entering and maintaining electronic health records
  • Answering telephones and greeting patients
  • Updating and filing patient medical records
  • Coding and filling out insurance forms
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
  • Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
  • Taking medical histories and explaining treatment procedures to patients
  • Assisting the physician during exams
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
  • Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical assisting certification or training preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of psychiatry and psychotropic medications
