About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Floating Teacher to join our team at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) Child Care Services. As a Floating Teacher, you will be responsible for providing high-quality educational programs for children from 3 months to 12 years of age at our five centers: Early Childhood Education Center, Verano Preschool, Children's Center, Extended Day Center, and Infant Toddler Center.

Responsibilities
  • Co-supervise the day-to-day operation of the children in licensed day care facilities.
  • Plan and implement curriculum and outdoor activities that promote learning and development.
  • Assist in supervising practicum and field study students.
Requirements
  • Current California Child Development Program permit at teacher level or higher.
  • Effective communication skills, both with children and adults.
  • Experience working with infants, preschool, and school-aged children in a center-based environment.
  • Education in child development or a related field, or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • 2 years of working in licensed center-based child care facilities.
  • Familiarity with federal and state health safety regulations applicable to a child care facility.
  • Thorough understanding of child development and the philosophy and methodology of early childhood education.
  • Knowledge of NAYEC Accreditation Criteria.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and direct a challenging developmental and instructional program for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children.
  • Knowledge of appropriate activities (physical, emotional, language, social, and cognitive) for this age group.
  • Knowledge of first aid and health practices appropriate for children ages 3 months to 12 years of age.
  • 3 units of Infant Toddler Development coursework completed with a passing grade.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 units of Infant Toddler Development coursework.
Special Conditions
  • A minimum of 3 units of Infant Toddler Development coursework completed with a passing grade.
  • Absence of active TB and other immunizations as required by Community Care Licensing.
