Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our Women's and Newborns department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care to expectant mothers and their newborns. This is a seasonal, 36-hour-per-week position working nights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate all nursing care for Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and Post Partum units for adult and newborn patients.
  • Manage laboring patients and fetal monitoring.
  • Care for newborns from birth through discharge to home or a higher level of care.
  • Provide education to new mothers on breastfeeding resources and techniques.
  • Consult with lactation consultants as needed.
  • Recover patients after deliveries, C-sections, or other procedures.
  • Perform admission and daily assessments.
  • Provide instructions to patients, family members, and significant others as appropriate.
  • Communicate information about delivery progress as directed.
  • Assist anesthesia personnel with epidurals and other procedures as needed.
Requirements
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse licensure.
  • One year of recent Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery experience preferred.
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider certification required.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required within one year of hire.
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring required after 3 years of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal STABLE course required within one year of hire.
Preferred Skills
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
  • High degree of organization and ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Advanced computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
