Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Uvalde Memorial Hospital. As a Labor and Delivery Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate all nursing care for Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and Post Partum units for adult and newborn patients.
  • Manage laboring patients and fetal monitoring, ensuring the highest level of care and attention to detail.
  • Provide education to new mothers on breastfeeding resources and techniques, consulting with lactation consultants as needed.
  • Recover patients after deliveries, c-sections, or other procedures, ensuring a smooth and safe transition.
  • Perform admission and daily assessments, documenting all information in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare teams, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in all procedures, ensuring a time-out process is conducted and maintaining a safe and quiet environment for patients and clinical staff.
Requirements
  • Current Texas Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • One year of recent Labor and Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn Nursery experience preferred.
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider certification required.
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Fetal Monitoring certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required within one year of hire.
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring required after 3 years of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Neonatal STABLE course required within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
  • High degree of organization and ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Advanced computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
