The Senior Heavy Construction Project Leader will manage the daily operations of construction initiatives valued between $5M and $100M. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and within financial constraints.
The Project Leader is accountable for the overall effectiveness of project delivery. This encompasses responsibilities for cost estimation, budgeting, scheduling, compliance with contracts, safety protocols, quality assurance, project completion, and client satisfaction. The individual will allocate labor and equipment resources to ensure adequate project staffing, track construction progress, establish strategic objectives, and diligently monitor performance to meet client expectations. Active collaboration with field supervision and project engineering teams is essential, along with providing mentorship and guidance for continuous improvement and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a comprehensive heavy highway, road, and/or bridge construction project or a significant segment of a larger initiative.
- Plan and execute complex technical tasks requiring sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.
- Manage field construction operations, engineering, and other support activities for project(s).
- Ensure contract execution aligns with established schedules and budgets.
- Build and maintain relationships as the primary contact with the client.
- Administer contracts and safeguard the company's rights and remedies concerning modifications.
- Assemble the necessary workforce to fulfill contract obligations and provide direct oversight of field supervision.
- Utilize negotiation and contract management expertise to represent the company with clients and external agencies.
- 5-10 years of recent experience in heavy highway, road, and bridge construction management is essential.
- Experience with medium to large heavy highway, road, and bridge construction projects ($50M+) is required.
- Familiarity with the local construction landscape is advantageous.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is desirable.
- A proven history of effectively organizing workforces to achieve project objectives.
- A comprehensive understanding of various construction disciplines.
- Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities.
