Job Title: Network Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at Saxon Global. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in reviews of current network processes, change, and build procedures to identify areas for improvement and implement automation projects.
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and implement features in support of established security and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and document standards and provide training to others to ensure consistency and best practices.
  • Research network automation industry trends and automation tools to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  • Participate in agile concepts such as daily stand-up meetings, task tracking boards, design and code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment.
  • Partner with Business units to ensure solutions will operate at scale without issue and create visualizations for data collected from networking devices for quick interpretation and notification.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in Python, Ansible, YAML, and asynchronous programming.
  • Basic network routing and switch experience.
  • Experience working in a Linux environment and has a working knowledge of basic Linux commands/utilities.
  • In-depth knowledge about networking protocols and TCP/IP stack.
  • Perfect understanding of access control lists, address translation, tunneling, and standard routing protocols.
  • Network automation/orchestration experience.
  • Experience using Restful APIs to integrate various technologies.
  • Critical thinking, self-motivated with excellent communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience as a network automation engineer.
  • Basic familiarity with network switches, load balancers, and firewalls (CCNA level certification).
  • Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge, and help others develop.
  • Able to communicate effectively both in verbal and written form to peers, customers, leadership, and external parties (e.g., vendors).
  • Able to conceive and develop a presentation to a peer group that is logical, well-written, and concise.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a hybrid 2-3 days per week onsite position.
