About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Safety Support Associate to join our Interim Housing team at the YWCA location. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our staff, program participants, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the site's facilities and grounds for any concerns and report them to the Associate Director.
  • Build rapport with participants to engage them in maintaining safety at the site.
  • Provide assistance and support when crisis situations arise.
  • Assist with implementing security and support systems, protocols, and policies.
  • Conduct regular rounds of the interim housing site and facility grounds and communicate and observed discrepancies or concerns.
  • Assist the Associate Director with drafting written documentation and written correspondence regarding the safety and security of the site.
  • Respond to interim housing security and/or crisis situations as they arise by utilizing non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation strategies.

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail to gather and interpret data, identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform decision-making.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with others, seeking out and building positive working relationships with colleagues, participants, and stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Creativity and initiative to take action and make decisions without being prompted, demonstrating a proactive approach to work and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze and evaluate information and situations, identify key issues, consider alternatives, and make logical decisions based on sound reasoning.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience working with vulnerable populations and/or security and/or de-escalation/nonviolent crisis intervention.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Have employment eligibility verification.
  • Have or be able and willing to obtain CPR/First Aid training.
  • Successfully complete the following as a condition of hire: Tuberculosis Test, Background Screening, and Drug Test.
Driving Requirements
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles used during work duties.
  • The ability to qualify for PATH's insurance coverage.
