Position Overview

Role: MRI Technologist II

Department: PCH-MAIN | Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Category: Radiology/Imaging Services

This role involves conducting diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging procedures to gather critical data for the assessment of medical conditions and injuries, adhering to all relevant standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. This position encompasses advanced responsibilities and specialized duties.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Execute diagnostic MRI procedures and imaging tests as directed, ensuring optimal results by selecting appropriate techniques in line with established standards and protocols.
  2. Complete finalization tasks, including limited coding within the radiology information system (RIS) to ensure timely and accurate patient data and billing. Maintain records according to Radiologist specifications.
  3. Engage in the assessment and formulation of new procedures and protocols for imaging sequences, contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Actively review practices and assist in implementing changes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  4. Maintain professional and technical expertise by continuously seeking knowledge and self-improvement, staying updated on current literature, practices, and advancements in diagnostic imaging.
  5. Conduct regular equipment calibration and maintenance following established guidelines. Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to ensure safe and effective operations, reporting service needs and preventive maintenance requirements as necessary.
  6. Provide MRI safety information to patients and their families, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of procedural protocols.
  7. Participate in the training of MRI students and orient new MRI Technologists, as well as assist in the training of Radiography students during their rotation.
  8. Maintain proficiency in one or more specialized areas to uphold the MRI Tech II designation, including:
    • Performing charge relief duties in the absence of the Lead MRI Technologist.
    • Demonstrating competence in two advanced MRI procedures such as:
    • a. Cardiac MRI
    • b. Functional MRI
    • c. Fetal MRI
    • Ensuring maintenance of ACR accreditation.
    • Serving as an MRI department educator.
  9. Undertake additional job-related tasks as assigned.
