This role involves conducting diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging examinations to generate data essential for the assessment of medical conditions and injuries, adhering to all relevant standards, regulations, and licensing mandates. The position encompasses advanced responsibilities and specialized duties.
Key Responsibilities- Execute diagnostic MRI examinations and imaging assessments as directed, ensuring optimal techniques are applied to achieve superior results in compliance with established protocols.
- Perform concluding tasks such as limited coding utilizing the radiology information system (RIS) to guarantee timely and precise patient data and billing accuracy. Maintain records in line with Radiologist requirements.
- Engage in the assessment and formulation of new procedures and protocols for imaging sequences, contributing to quality enhancement initiatives. Actively review practices and assist in the development and implementation of improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Maintain professional and technical expertise by continually seeking knowledge and self-improvement, staying informed about current literature, practices, and advancements in diagnostic imaging.
- Conduct routine equipment calibration and maintenance according to established guidelines. Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions to ensure consistent and safe operations, reporting service needs and preventive maintenance concerns as necessary.
- Provide MRI safety information to patients and their families to ensure a comprehensive understanding of procedural protocols.
- Participate in the training of MRI students and the orientation of new MRI Technologists, as well as assist in the education of Radiography students during their rotations.
- Maintain proficiency in one or more of the following areas to uphold the MRI Tech II designation:
- Regularly perform charge relief duties in the absence of the Lead MRI Technologist.
- Demonstrate competence in two of the following advanced MRI procedures:
- a. Cardiac MRI
- b. Functional MRI
- c. Fetal MRI
- Ensure maintenance of ACR accreditation.
- Act as an educator within the MRI department.
