Position Summary

This role involves conducting diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging procedures to gather essential data for the diagnosis of medical conditions and injuries, adhering to all relevant standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. The position encompasses advanced responsibilities and specialized tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Execute diagnostic MRI procedures and imaging tests as directed, ensuring optimal outcomes by selecting appropriate techniques in compliance with established standards and protocols.
  2. Perform finalization tasks, including limited coding using the radiology information system (RIS) to ensure accurate patient information and charge capture. Archive records following Radiologist specifications.
  3. Engage in the assessment and development of new imaging procedures and protocols, contributing to quality improvement initiatives. Actively evaluate practices and assist in implementing changes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  4. Maintain professional and technical expertise by pursuing continuous education and staying informed about current literature, practices, and advancements in diagnostic imaging.
  5. Conduct regular equipment calibration and maintenance according to established guidelines. Identify and troubleshoot any malfunctions to guarantee safe and efficient operations, reporting service needs and preventive maintenance issues as necessary.
  6. Provide MRI safety information to patients and their families, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of procedural protocols.
  7. Participate in the training of MRI students and the orientation of new MRI Technologists, as well as assist in the training of Radiography students during their rotations.
  8. Maintain proficiency in specific areas to uphold the MRI Technologist II position, including:
    • Assuming charge relief duties in the absence of the Lead MRI Technologist.
    • Demonstrating competence in at least two advanced MRI procedures such as Cardiac, Functional MRI, or Fetal MRI.
    • Ensuring the maintenance of ACR accreditation.
    • Serving as an MRI department educator.
  9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
