Job Summary:

The Welding Engineer plays a crucial role in delivering technical expertise in the welding and assembly of metal components. Responsibilities include developing welding procedures, creating supporting documentation, monitoring weld integrity, conducting failure analyses, and providing internal training on welding practices. Within the Quality Department, the Welding Engineer addresses product discrepancies, collaborates with suppliers on quality issues, implements corrective measures, and engages in continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Program and operate robotic welding systems, including both online and offline programming. Willingness to pursue off-site training in robotic programming is essential. Experience with Fanuc or Motoman robots is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Develop and refine welding techniques and procedures, applying knowledge of production specifications, metal properties, and engineering principles to solve fabrication challenges.
  • Establish welding guidelines to assist production and welding teams, addressing specification limitations, material processing, and pre- and post-heating requirements, particularly with complex alloys and critical joints.
  • Oversee and coordinate inspections to ensure compliance with established welding standards and procedures, including testing welds for adherence to national codes and certifying welding personnel.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering.
  • Strong desire and aptitude for learning advanced robotic operations and programming.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding science and technology, including the application of techniques and equipment in metal fabrication.
  • Excellent mechanical and robotic skills.
  • A positive and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong sense of urgency and capability to complete work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with robotics and automation.
  • Physical capability to safely navigate and operate machinery.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing setting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Capability to move throughout the production facility.
