Job Summary

The Medical Technologist (MT) plays a vital role in the laboratory, performing a wide range of duties to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform Moderate and High Complexity Testing on blood and body fluid specimens, adhering to instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control procedures.
2. Work in various laboratory areas, including Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and more.
3. Maintain accurate records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements.
4. Coordinate with phlebotomy and hospital staff to ensure proper patient sample collection.
5. Troubleshoot laboratory equipment, test methods, and sample collection issues.
6. Train new employees and students on laboratory methods, instruments, and policies.
7. Communicate patient results and problems to Medical or Nursing Staff effectively.
8. Provide excellent customer service and communication skills.
9. Work under pressure in emergency situations.
10. Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Laboratory Director.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field. Laboratory training through an accredited program is preferred.

Experience: One to two years of experience working in an accredited laboratory is preferred.

Certification as a laboratory professional by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW is preferred.
