Overview
As a key member of our production team, you will report directly to the Shift Supervisor and be responsible for operating one or more welding machines or industrial robots. Your role will involve fabricating metal components or assemblies according to precise specifications, utilizing your foundational knowledge of welding principles in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually lift workpieces or utilize hoisting equipment to secure them in fixtures or load them into automatic feeding devices.
- Calculate and adjust machine settings to control factors such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, gas type, and welding rod type.
- Initiate machine operations, monitor the process, and ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct inspections and measurements of machined components to confirm adherence to specifications.
- Adjust machine controls and guides as necessary to maintain quality.
- Safely unload welded frames from robotic welders and organize them in designated containers.
- Assemble component parts through clamping, tack-welding, heat-bending, grinding, or bolting to achieve required configurations.
- Remove imperfections from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
- Eliminate excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, power chippers, or portable grinders.
- Perform welding tasks in various positions including flat, vertical, or overhead.
- Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools or brushes as needed.
- Shape and finish machined parts through filing, sanding, or other methods.
- Maintain accurate counts of produced parts and label finished containers with relevant information.
- Execute basic MIG and TIG welding techniques as required.
- Uphold company standards for quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Interpret job specifications, including blueprints and quality control plans, to determine welding and material requirements.
- Utilize equipment and supplies in accordance with operational standards.
- Examine finished components to ensure compliance with specifications using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Report any defective materials or questionable conditions to the Robotic Welding Manager.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly, adhering to safety regulations.
- Be flexible to perform other related duties or work at different stations as production needs arise.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- FANUC Robotic Certification is preferred.
- A certificate or degree in welding is advantageous.
- Minimum of one year of welding experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Successful completion of an internal welding assessment.
- Familiarity with welding equipment and tools, including their design, application, repair, and maintenance.
- Basic mathematical skills are required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, welding symbols, safety regulations, and operating instructions.
- Strong communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors.
- Dependability is essential.
