About the Role

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Physicist to join our team. As a key member of our medical physics department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation in our diagnostic and interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acceptance testing of new or replaced ionizing radiation producing equipment in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
  • Design and evaluate radiation protective shielding with the Medical Center, as well as satellite facilities.
  • Establish and implement a required regulatory preventive maintenance program within diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology. This includes required testing of the following equipment: general radiographic, general fluoroscopic, computer tomography, mobile radiographic, mobile fluoroscopic, dental, cabinet, cardiac catheterization, mammography, mammography stereotactic, digital radiography, and simulator.
  • Performing radiation protection surveys as required by the NJDEP Bureau of Radiological Health.
  • Work with genetic counseling to calculate the radiation dose to the fetus when required.
  • Keep abreast of the evolving ionizing radiation techniques in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, research, and radiation oncology.
Requirements
  • Master of Science in Physics or related field.
  • Three years clinical experience in diagnostic medical physics.
  • Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Five years clinical experience in diagnostic medical physics.
  • Licenses and Certifications Preferred: Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics.
