Key Responsibilities:
The Nursing Supervisor is accountable for ensuring the delivery of patient care that prioritizes the safety and well-being of all individuals, ranging from young adults to the elderly, who are facing complex medical conditions, general medical-surgical issues, and those requiring rehabilitation or wound care.
Specific Duties Include:
- Collaborating with agencies providing contract nursing services alongside the Director.
- Serving as the intermediary between clinical nursing personnel and administrative staff.
- Offering clinical guidance to nursing staff by acting as a mentor and role model.
- Working in partnership with hospital leadership, physicians, and other team members to ensure optimal patient services.
- Playing a significant role in educating both employees and patients to enhance knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary for achieving quality outcomes.
- Implementing a hospital-wide performance improvement strategy that ensures critical processes and activities are measured, evaluated, and enhanced.
- Planning, directing, coordinating, and assessing all activities within and between departments.
- Acting as the designated on-site hospital administrator during after-hours.
- Assessing all requests for administrative on-call contacts during shifts.
- Overseeing all hospital activities in the absence of the Administrator or department managers.
- Ensuring a safe and effective environment that promotes customer satisfaction, including for physicians, employees, patients, and their families.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to present a professional image.
- Proficient understanding and application of professional standards of practice in job situations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices.
- Awareness of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with exceptional leadership capabilities.
- Proficient in using personal computers and software applications relevant to job functions (e.g., word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets).
- Individuals with a history of legal convictions related to abuse, neglect, or mistreatment in healthcare settings are ineligible for this position.
- Must be free from illegal drug use.
- Must be free from the use of and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in acute care or long-term acute care nursing, particularly in critical care, emergency room, or telemetry units.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory or charge nurse experience is required.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
- Must maintain current CPR and ACLS certifications throughout employment.
- ACLS certification must be obtained within one year of employment or as courses become available.
