Position Overview:

The Senior Civil Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, planning, and supervision of moderately complex infrastructure projects. These projects may encompass the renovation and construction of various structures, including buildings, dams, and pipelines. The Senior Civil Engineer is tasked with ensuring that all projects are executed on schedule, within financial constraints, and adhere to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering leadership for natural gas capital projects, which include gas distribution, transmission, city gates/regulator stations, compression, and storage facilities.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team consisting of project engineers, project managers, and operations personnel to support project objectives.
  • Consult with project stakeholders and management regarding engineering requirements for construction, modifications, and structural repairs.
  • Utilize design software and drawing tools to accurately communicate designs and plan related systems and structures.
  • Evaluate the strength of materials such as foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel through appropriate testing methods to ensure safe modifications and constructions.
  • Conduct fieldwork and data collection as necessary to support project requirements.
  • Establish design specifications by calculating load and grade requirements, material stress factors, and flow rates.
  • Analyze relevant materials, including drawings, blueprints, and survey reports, to plan projects effectively.
  • Estimate the materials, equipment, and labor necessary to determine project costs and prepare required documentation.
  • Draft and present reports on project-related topics, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Work closely with internal teams, architects, contractors, and surveyors to ensure accurate installations and project progression.
  • Monitor project advancement and ensure compliance with design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain structures as needed upon project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with a minimum of four (4) years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited program along with a Professional Engineering license and four (4) years of applicable engineering experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset.
