Position Overview

As an integral member of the surgical team, the Anesthesia Technician is responsible for the effective operation and upkeep of anesthesia apparatus. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of the equipment utilized within the department, including proficiency in its operation, troubleshooting, and repair initiation.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Equipment Management**: Ensure daily checks of monitoring devices and assist in the preparation of anesthesia equipment, including the changing of anesthesia circuits, adhering to established protocols to guarantee optimal patient safety and care.

2. **Collaboration**: Work cohesively with surgical team members to enhance patient outcomes and coordinate activities outside the unit, accompanying anesthesiologists and surgeons as necessary.

3. **Emergency Response**: Act promptly in emergency situations within the operating room, setting up the required emergency equipment and effectively communicating with the surgical team regarding special equipment and supply needs.

4. **Quality Assurance**: Maintain meticulous records of equipment maintenance and quality control logs, ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards.

5. **Supply Management**: Monitor and stock necessary supplies for anesthesia administration, ensuring that all operating rooms are adequately equipped with supplies and medications.

6. **Cleaning Protocols**: Adhere to infection control policies by cleaning all anesthesia equipment and surfaces, ensuring a sterile environment for patient procedures.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists & Technicians is preferred within two years of employment.
- BCLS Certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in a hospital setting is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are essential.

Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $25.63-$28.13 per hour. This range represents a good faith estimate of potential base compensation for successful applicants and may be adjusted in the future based on various factors such as location, specialty, and relevant experience.
