Job Purpose:

As an Exterior Design Engineer at American Honda Motor Co., you will collaborate with multiple divisions to design exterior components and systems that balance vehicle performance, safety, reliability, profitability, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D layouts and 2D drawings using CATIA to design exterior components.
  • Correlate and negotiate with internal Honda contacts, including design, test, and purchasing departments.
  • Lead part design with suppliers and manage schedules to achieve design targets.
  • Collaborate with styling teams to set feasible design directions and finalize designs.
  • Support part and vehicle verification, developing countermeasures when necessary.
  • Estimate and manage part costs, including reviewing supplier quotes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 0-6 years of experience based on education.
  • CATIA or other 3D CAD software skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment with some interaction in test labs, fabrication, and manufacturing environments. 5-10 hours of overtime per week as needed, with some domestic travel and limited international travel.
