The Sales Estimator is tasked with securing profitable contracts and fostering relationships with new clients while also nurturing existing accounts within the designated region, aligning with Pye-Barker Fire & Safety's objectives of profitability and operational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehend construction principles and effectively interpret construction documents.
- Perform routine tasks such as downloading documents, organizing folders, and completing Excel and Word files.
- Collaborate closely with fellow sales personnel to ensure timely and efficient completion of estimates.
- Conduct data entry for comprehensive job tracking across the company.
- Oversee preliminary system layout and design for project estimation.
- Engage with clients as necessary.
- Communicate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) or other regulatory bodies.
- Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) during the bidding process.
- Exhibit technical proficiency in relevant design standards and codes.
- Familiarity with drafting tools such as AutoSprink or SprinkCAD is preferred but not mandatory.
- Possess a working knowledge of Pye-Barker's Bid sheet and estimating tools.
- Attend RFP sales meetings as required by management.
- Conduct code research pertinent to specific projects as needed.
- Monitor online plan room services for upcoming project opportunities.
- Complete and manage contractor and owner pre-qualification forms as necessary.
- Administer project portal websites such as Bid Clerk and Gov.Spend.
- Participate in trade shows, including booth setup and teardown, and engage with attendees during exhibition hours.
- Host client meetings, which may include breakfast discussions, lunch presentations, dinners, or other social engagements.
- Occasional domestic travel may be required.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Analyze customer preferences to effectively direct sales initiatives.
- Provide regular performance feedback and reports.
- Act as a representative of the company to potential clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating and selling fire protection services.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- This role may involve light lifting of materials for delivery. Onsite requirements include prolonged walking and standing, as well as climbing and descending ladders or steps.
- Exemplary organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to perform tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with others.
- Willingness to enhance sales and customer service skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software; experience with ServiceTrade is advantageous.
