Position Overview

The Patient Care Assistant will deliver essential support to patients, aiding them in their daily routines while working under the guidance of a licensed nursing professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer direct patient assistance, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility support.
  • Monitor and document vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Assist patients with personal care tasks including dressing, toileting, and transitioning between beds and wheelchairs.
  • Report any significant changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing team.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement and uphold care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient rooms and communal areas.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform additional clinical tasks as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to work autonomously and contribute positively within a team environment.
  • Proficient in building and maintaining effective relationships with patients and their families.
  • Physical capability to lift and move patients, as well as stand for extended periods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective communication with diverse individuals, demonstrating sensitivity and diplomacy.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately.
Educational Background
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Completion of a state-recognized CNA training program and certification is required.
  • Experience in behavioral health care is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and proficient computer skills are preferred.
  • Current CPR certification is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to twist, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and transfer individuals of varying weights.
