OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE:
To deliver instruction in the field of Life Sciences in accordance with institutional policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Instructional Duties
1. Provide instruction in the designated area of expertise in alignment with institutional guidelines.
2. Implement educational theories and principles to enhance learning outcomes.
3. Tailor teaching methods to accommodate the varying knowledge levels of students.
4. Suggest modifications to courses and programs to the academic department leadership as necessary.
5. Create course syllabi that fulfill institutional standards and address student needs, ensuring availability on the first day of class.
6. Employ diverse instructional strategies as required.
7. Guide students to utilize special academic resources available in the Libraries and/or Academic Support Center.
8. Clearly outline course objectives and procedures prior to commencing instruction.
9. Establish transparent grading criteria and standards.
10. Administer assessments to evaluate student performance and comprehension.
11. Utilize feedback from student evaluations and learning assessments to refine course content and teaching strategies.
12. Keep students informed about their academic progress.
13. Maintain accurate records related to teaching and advising responsibilities.
14. Adhere to deadlines in a timely manner.
15. Provide reasonable accommodations and adjustments for students with disabilities as per institutional policies.
B. Student Engagement Beyond the Classroom
1. Stay informed about institutional policies and resources available to students.
2. Maintain designated office hours for student consultations, which may be conducted in-person or online.
3. Conduct student conferences as needed.
4. Engage with students outside of the classroom through various activities such as mentoring, academic advising, or leading student organizations.
C. Faculty Contributions
1. Participate in committees and task forces as appointed by institutional leadership.
2. Leverage professional expertise to contribute to community and professional initiatives.
3. Attend scheduled faculty meetings.
4. Align personal goals with institutional objectives to support overall mission.
5. Engage in program or discipline-level assessments.
D. Professional Growth
1. Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching methodologies and subject matter expertise.

1. Collaborate with supervisors to establish personal and departmental objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
All faculty members teaching credit-bearing courses at the associate degree level in relevant fields must possess at least a master's degree in their area of expertise or have completed a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in their teaching discipline, along with a master's degree from an accredited institution. Note that graduate hours in Biology Education may not be applicable.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the collegiate level, with preference given to those with community college experience.
