In this role, you will be instrumental in the aircraft assembly process, focusing on the rework and repair of various aircraft components and assemblies constructed from materials such as fiberglass, plastics, and composites. Your work will span multiple phases of the aircraft assembly process, including shop environments, factory settings, and live aircraft operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrieve work packages and drawings as directed by supervisors.
- Interpret work orders and engineering drawings to ascertain tasks and required materials.
- Collaborate with management and other departments on job-related matters.
- Execute layout and rework repairs according to specifications, utilizing jigs and templates as necessary.
- Prepare and finish a variety of composite parts, ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
- Utilize mechanical lifts to facilitate repair operations.
- Conduct surface preparation for repairs, including sanding and cleaning.
- Apply composite materials and coatings to designated areas as per specifications.
- Bond materials using appropriate curing methods.
- Perform minor assembly tasks as required.
- Ensure proper identification and documentation of completed work.
- Handle hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain personal and tool certifications as necessary.
Work Environment
This position is primarily onsite, requiring full-time presence at designated locations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with precision measuring tools.
- Experience in reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools.
- Familiarity with composite materials and their fabrication processes.
Education
A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
