About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at the National Academy of Sciences. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in providing expert legal advice and guidance on various policy matters, ensuring that we maintain the highest standards of integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to senior management and staff on complex policy issues, including contract negotiations, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure that our organization operates within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, vendors, and partners, to negotiate contracts, agreements, and other arrangements that benefit our organization.
  • Analyze and interpret complex legal documents, including contracts, grants, and agreements, to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing laws and regulations, providing expert guidance and recommendations to ensure that our organization remains compliant.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in law, with a proven track record of providing expert legal advice and guidance in a fast-paced environment. Your exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills will enable you to navigate complex legal issues and develop creative solutions that meet our organization's needs.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in a related field such as corporate law or public policy.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, including contract law, intellectual property law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range of $126,880 - $198,250, commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
