Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Assistant to join our PreK team. As an Instructional Assistant, you will provide essential support to the classroom teacher in implementing the instructional program for PreK students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the teacher in implementing the instructional and socialization program for PreK students
  • Ensure safe arrival and departure of students each day
  • Supervise children during center instruction
  • Carry out program activities with small groups of children involving gross motor skills, play activities, teaching personal hygiene and social skills
  • Prepare breakfast and lunch for children during center time and supervise students during these meals
  • Provide behavioral support to students
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior modification
  • Assist with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities
  • Assist students with personal care tasks
  • Assist with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials
  • Report student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assist with student resolution
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds frequently and 50 to 60 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. You must also have a general knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in special education classrooms, as well as the ability to maintain records and confidentiality, operate audio visual, standard office, and computer equipment, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, and administrators.

You must hold an associate degree or a Child Development Associate credential or be enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate's or bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a Child Development Associate credential program to be completed within two years of hire. A bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education is preferred.
