Job Summary

The Instructional Assistant Early Learning PreK will provide essential support with the implementation of the PreK instructional program under the guidance of the classroom teacher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one instruction or tutoring with students to support their academic and social development.
  • Offer behavioral support to students to promote positive behavior and social skills.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior modification to create a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Support field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting and feeding, to promote independence and self-care.
  • Assist with the creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials to support student learning.
  • Report student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assist with student resolution to ensure student well-being.
  • Assist with breakfast, lunch, and snack, including clean-up, to promote healthy eating habits and social skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the instructional program.
Requirements
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues.
  • General knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in special education classrooms.
  • Ability to maintain records and confidentiality.
  • Ability to operate audio-visual, standard office, and computer equipment.
  • Ability to operate adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students, and administrators.
Education and Experience
  • Must hold an associate degree or a Child Development Associate credential or be enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate's or bachelor's degree or be enrolled in a Child Development Associate credential program to be completed within two years of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education is preferred.
