Responsibilities
  • Provide temporary and emergency care for students and staff, adhering to district policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a health advocate for students, notifying parents of accidents or illnesses and securing medical care as needed.
  • Coordinate health services on campus, including administering medications, performing screening procedures, and making referrals as necessary.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health program, including prevention and control of communicable diseases, health education, and counseling.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and the medical community to assess student problems and make appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, crisis teams, and other school committees as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health to conduct vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening.
  • CPR certification.
  • Valid Texas School Nurse Certificate.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, frequently traveling throughout the district. They will be exposed to biological hazards and communicable diseases.
