Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the educational and behavioral development of assigned students.
  • Exhibit an understanding of the specific needs of students at various developmental stages and cultivate a conducive learning atmosphere within the classroom.
  • Assess, track, and communicate students' academic progress.
  • Engage in collaborative meetings and discussions.
  • Work in partnership with fellow educators and staff members.
Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • A Bachelor's degree along with a minimum of three months of relevant teaching experience (such as student teaching or internships) is required.
  • Candidates must possess or be eligible for a conditional, standard professional, or advanced certification from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) at the time of hiring. Those with conditional certification are expected to achieve standard professional or advanced certification within two to four years, as per MSDE's evaluation of their qualifications. Continuous compliance with MSDE certification standards is mandatory throughout the duration of employment.
  • Prior experience working with students exhibiting severe emotional or behavioral challenges, as well as autism, is highly desirable.
