Waymo is a leading autonomous driving technology company with a mission to make transportation safe and accessible for everyone. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead Manager to join our Simulation Infrastructure team.
The Simulation Infrastructure team is responsible for creating reliable, scalable, and cost-effective simulation-based products that evaluate the Waymo Driver's software stack at a massive scale. As a Technical Lead Manager, you will lead a team of junior and senior software engineers, setting the technical vision and direction for the team and influencing the broader Infrastructure Organization.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading an Infrastructure team that serves the Simulation-based Evaluation needs for a large and diverse set of customer teams across Waymo
- Setting the technical vision and direction for your team, and also influencing the direction of the broader Infrastructure Organization
- Managing a medium-sized team (5-7) of junior and senior SWEs, organizing them into effective sub-teams with clear missions, projects, and APIs
- Contributing production-grade code, executing code reviews, driving and influencing detailed technical designs
- Aligning and defining plans for your team in addition to influencing planning and strategy of partners and the larger Organization
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience building large-scale distributed systems
- Proficient in C++, or a strong willingness to learn
- 2+ years directly managing high-performing Software Engineers
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with Product, Program, Data Science, etc.
- History of data-driven decision making
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with different types of large-scale systems
- History of working on Infra teams with multiple different customers
- Experience with evaluation tools, data analysis, and data science concepts
- 10+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer/Technical Expert
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $221,000-$276,000 USD, as well as a range of benefits, including top-notch medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental wellness support, a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), a Health Saving Account (HSA), on-site physicians and/or nurses in some locations, and special wellness programs.
