Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Services Specialist to join our team at Inspiritus Inc. in Savannah, GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating youth program activities, providing academic support, and promoting social adjustment and empowerment of refugee youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead afterschool and summer camp programming that incorporates educational, team building, and therapeutic activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between local schools and refugee families.
  • Conduct American school orientation for newcomers.
  • Register current youth program participants and newly arrived refugee students for school.
  • Conduct and document educational assessments as required by program funders.
  • Establish program activities that prepare youth for success, promoting safety of members and quality in programs at all times.
  • Actively recruit students who are recommended for the program by case managers, teachers, counselors, administrators, and the community.
  • Ensure all documentation and client case files are accurately prepared for clients by program staff.
  • Work closely with teachers to identify low-performing students and align activities to be sure they are different from the regular school day and discuss evaluation and eligibility criteria.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the program, including daily schedule changes, youth transitions, transportation, and logistics.
  • Help respond to monitoring and audit reports and implement required changes.
  • Create and manage partnerships and relationships with service providers, partner agencies, public systems, and community volunteers.
  • Participate in Inspiritus functions and public relations activities.
Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in education or human services-related or education field and minimum of two years of previous direct work experience in youth and/or human services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment and high level of cultural humility.
  • Conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change.
  • Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of the practitioner.
  • Excellent computer skills, accurate typing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Must own a personal multi-passenger vehicle, hold a valid Georgia Driver's license, have a good driving record, and have appropriate personal auto insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating diverse teams of volunteers and/or interns.
  • Familiarity with major Savannah schools, social services programs, public transportation, employers, and neighborhoods.
  • Experience with human services programs.
  • Reads, writes, and speaks a relevant foreign language.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk and hear. Required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls: and reach with hands and arms. Required to operate personal vehicle. Employees frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
