About This Role:

The Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Nurse III to join our dedicated Anesthesia team. This position plays a vital role in providing clinical and anesthetic support for the veterinary staff in caring for patients in need of surgical procedures.

This position provides advanced nursing care through engaging responsibilities such as premedication, anesthesia induction, level maintenance, and patient recovery from anesthesia. The successful candidate will also provide specialized support for oncology radiation therapy patients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced veterinary nurse to advance their skillset through continuing education and various learning experiences. Working hours for Veterinary Nurses in this position will include daytime hours Monday-Friday, with some after-hours and weekend on-call/standby coverage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical and anesthetic support for veterinary staff
  • Administer premedication, anesthesia induction, and level maintenance
  • Provide patient recovery from anesthesia
  • Support oncology radiation therapy patients
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development
Requirements:
  • Completion of a two-year college program in veterinary or animal technology accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
  • Five years of relevant experience as a veterinary technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) after passing the Veterinary Technician National Exam
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts, animal behavior, and animal husbandry
  • Ability to work with and provide preventative maintenance for ordinary veterinary medical hospital equipment
  • Ability to adhere to appropriate safety procedures
  • Ability to be a self-starter and be proactive in assisting others
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a high-intensity environment
