Sterile Processing Specialist

The CORE Institute is seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at our Specialty Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of patient care by maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decontaminate and sterilize medical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment and supplies
- Sort and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Restock and maintain inventory of medical supplies
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure instrument availability
- Recognize and report any issues with sterilization equipment or supplies
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience in sterile processing or a related field
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred
- Current national certification as a SPD technician, Certified Registered Central Service Technician or Surgical Instrument Processor within six months
Working Conditions:
The Sterile Processing Technician will work in a fast-paced clinical environment with frequent exposure to unpleasant odors, blood and body fluids, infectious disease, and chemical or electrical hazards.
Physical and Mental Demands:
The Sterile Processing Technician will be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, and will need to be able to transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds. The position will also require good visual acuity, accurate color vision, and the ability to speak and hear.
