About the Position

This position is located in a maintenance shop setting, where you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy mobile equipment. Your work will involve removing and replacing major systems or components, making adjustments, and performing initial and in-process inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair heavy mobile equipment, including construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment.
  • Remove and replace major systems or components, including power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps, and alternators.
  • Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections, mechanical diagnostics, and troubleshooting to localize defects and determine the cause of malfunction.
  • Provide technical assistance to unit personnel and operate motor vehicles to perform duties.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires active membership as a Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR).
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • This position requires a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment.
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
Qualifications

This is a military technician position with the US Army Reserves. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the US Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the US Army Reserves and civil service and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.

This position requires the ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment to include performance of preventative maintenance checks and services; repair, replace, install, or make adjustments to mobile equipment components and parts; and conduct various operational tests to perform final inspection.
