Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Vice President of Accounting Services at the University of Texas at Arlington. This key leadership role will oversee the universityand#x2019;s financial operations, including accounting, payroll, financial reporting, disbursement, and procurement functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and policy information for financial operations and university decision-makers.
  • Oversight and leadership in the activities of the accounting, payroll, financial reporting, disbursement, and procurement functions of the university.
  • Responsible for the salaries and budgeting for all departments in these areas.
  • Oversight of the maintenance of the Universityand#x2019;s financial records in accordance with acceptable accounting principles, applicable University policies, and local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Provide oversight of the preparation of various financial reports, including the Annual Financial Report, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Provide management with timely reviews of the universityand#x2019;s financial status.
  • Oversight of external, internal, and other third-party audits.
  • Provide oversight, leadership, and guidance for university procurement and contract management and Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) program.
  • Leadership in the development and implementation of appropriate internal control systems.
  • Participate in University and campus community relations by representing department at meetings and serving on committees as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with academic and administrative units throughout the University community.
Requirements
  • Bachelorand#x2019;s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, financial operations, compliance, and financial systems management.
  • Ability to work at all levels and constituencies, as well as have proven skills in the resolution of complex issues.
  • Solid leadership skills, including a team-based approach to work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, customer-oriented, and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population required.
  • CPA and/or Masterand#x2019;s degree.
  • Current knowledge of NACUBO, federal, and state rules and legislation concerning higher education.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft finance and human resource systems preferred.
