We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe Specialist to join our team at Pennsylvania Medicine. As an Ophthalmic Scribe Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our ophthalmologists by accurately documenting patient information and assisting with the management of patient flow.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany ophthalmologists into examination areas and assist with documentation of patient medical records.
- Log onto electronic health records system under own credentials and document results of physician's findings.
- Designate correct colored dots for patient encounters and ensure accurate workflow.
- Print After Visit Summaries, Medication RX, and Eyeglass RX for patients.
- Perform Universal Protocol for patients undergoing procedures.
- Train other scribes as assigned by manager.
- Assist with managing patient flow and calling patients into examination rooms.
- Act as facilitator for patients and escort patients to various locations as needed.
- Ability to travel to different department locations.
- Assist manager with clerical duties and perform errands between departments.
- Ensure medications are secured at all times and report instrument and equipment problems to manager.
- Respond to patient inquiries and perform duties in accordance with Penn Medicine values and policies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 years of experience in healthcare or as a medical secretary.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents.
- Ability to work effectively with a range of business, clinical, and academic leaders.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to utilize computer software.
