Job Summary

Cayuga Health System is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure and distribute medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Receive shipments from vendors and restock pharmacy and OTC areas with medications and supplies.
  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions and resolving insurance issues.
  • Rotate and manage stock before expiration date.
  • Generate reports and labels as required.
  • Maintain logs, records, and other required documentation accurately and file documentation in appropriate locations.
  • Keep pharmacy neat, clean, and well-organized; keep pharmacy equipment clean.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering phones and attending to cash register.
  • Deliver prescriptions to patient's bedside when requested.
Requirements
  • Education - High School diploma/equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience - 2-3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Certification and Licensure - New York State license and registration as a Pharmacy Technician or Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT-Adv) is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Location and Travel Requirements
  • Onsite - Cayuga Medical Center - 101 Dates Drive Ithaca NY 14850
  • Shift - Day - Mon-Fri - 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Range Disclosure
  • $18.23 to $23.04 per hour
