Role Summary

The Substitute Educator plays a vital role in supporting the developmental needs of children by fostering a positive self-image and helping them achieve their full potential. This position involves collaboration with the center manager and fellow educators during meal times and transitions throughout the day. Substitute educators are expected to work with various age groups in a supportive setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a safe and engaging environment that encourages curiosity, activity, and self-discipline among children.
  • Establish warm, respectful relationships with children and their families, serving as a positive role model.
  • Guide children's behavior in constructive ways that promote overall growth and self-esteem.
  • Engage actively with children, demonstrating interest and responsiveness to their needs.
  • Implement lesson plans developed by the Primary Educator and contribute to the classroom's daily operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve the center's objectives.
  • Attend to the daily physical needs of children and maintain accurate records of care.
  • Utilize materials and equipment responsibly while ensuring a clean and safe environment.
  • Adhere to all licensing regulations and organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent; physical capability to lift 45 lbs and engage in activities at a child's level.
  • Strong communication skills with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Basic understanding of child development and the necessary support for each child's growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 21 years old for specific age group classrooms.
  • Relevant coursework or training in early childhood education.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Familiarity with High Scope Curriculum.
  • Proficiency in using technology for documentation and communication.
