JOB OVERVIEW

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for the daily planning, oversight, and management of the classroom environment and the children within it. This role typically involves collaboration with an assistant teacher to ensure a nurturing and educational atmosphere. The educator will address the concerns of parents, children, and classroom staff in a professional manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


• Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging classroom environment in line with established cleaning and sanitizing protocols.


• Complete all necessary documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and attendance records.


• Participate in staff meetings, academy events, and parent gatherings as required.


• Supervise and engage with children during various activities.


• Provide guidance to children facing social, academic, or adjustment challenges.


• Develop and execute lesson plans, educational programs, and schedules tailored to the needs of the children.


• Create and prepare instructional materials and resources for classroom activities.


• Assist children during meal times and facilitate clean-up procedures.


• Ensure that all classroom and outdoor equipment is well-maintained and utilized appropriately.


• Organize the classroom into distinct areas of interest to promote exploration and learning.


• Direct the activities of classroom staff to maintain an orderly and effective learning environment.


• Communicate relevant information to parents and maintain developmental profiles for each child.


• Schedule and conduct conferences with parents throughout the academic year.


• Manage the family information board and other classroom displays.


• Ensure adherence to the classroom medication schedule.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES


• Accept temporary assignments as needed, such as assisting with administrative tasks.


• Support the planning and execution of academy-wide events.


• Engage with prospective families and provide information about the academy.


• Assist in evaluating classroom personnel.


• Organize field trips and guest speakers for educational programs as directed.


• Contribute to the classroom section of the monthly newsletter.


• Perform other related duties as necessary.


• All staff members are required to complete 15 hours of training annually as mandated.

QUALIFICATIONS


• Must fulfill state requirements for the position.


• Candidates must pass a medical examination and have a clear background check to be eligible for employment.


• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds consistently throughout the workday.
