Role Summary and Qualifications

The Operating Room Registered Nurse will deliver expert surgical nursing care to patients by employing the nursing process and collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, to ensure high-quality care. The Operating Room Nurse is responsible for facilitating effective communication among surgical technologists, fellow Registered Nurses, surgeons, patients, and their families, as well as other surgical team members.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in both emergency and elective surgical procedures.

· Collaborate with surgical teams to guarantee optimal patient care.

· Act as a liaison between the surgical team and patients' families.

· Organize necessary supplies for patient care.

· Assess patients before, during, and after surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment.

· Conduct count procedures to prevent unintended retention of foreign objects and ensure correct site, side, and level for procedures.

· Monitor and maintain the patient's physiological systems and balances throughout the surgical process.

· Administer medications as per physician directives.

· Engage patients or their designated support persons in decisions regarding their post-operative care and rehabilitation.

Required Qualifications:

· Graduation from an accredited nursing program: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is mandatory.

· Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state or possession of an active Compact/Multi-State RN license.

· Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross is required.

· A minimum of one year of experience in Perioperative Nursing is highly preferred.

This position requires full vaccination against COVID-19 in accordance with local, state, and/or federal regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is granted).
