Senior Environmental Consultant - CEQA/NEPA Specialist

Location: Various locations across California

Position Overview

This role entails working closely with a dedicated team to deliver comprehensive environmental assessments that assist clients in securing project approvals in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed environmental assessments tailored to project specifications and guidelines to pinpoint potential environmental effects.
  • Investigate zoning and planning regulations to evaluate their applicability to specific operations and proposed initiatives.
  • Remain informed about the latest changes in CEQA/NEPA regulations and requirements.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with local planning and development authorities.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to meet project demands.
  • Act as a representative for clients during local agency meetings and provide necessary technical assistance.

Regulatory Knowledge

  • Draft environmental documentation including CE, ISMND, EIR, EA, EIS, General Plan Amendments, Zone Changes, and other essential paperwork for industrial and commercial clients.
  • Stay updated on current and upcoming regulations that may impact clients.

Project Oversight

  • Maintain and strengthen client relationships while pursuing new project opportunities.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to achieve project goals.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality project results within budget constraints.
  • Prepare proposals for CEQA/NEPA projects.
  • Oversee project billing and invoicing procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may include supervisory duties depending on the candidate's experience.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in key job functions. A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Proficiency in computer applications and familiarity with Microsoft Office is essential.

Essential Skills

Candidates should exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities. The capacity to interpret technical documents, compose reports, and convey information effectively is crucial. Proficiency in mathematical reasoning and calculations is necessary.

Physical Demands

The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting, manual tasks, and occasional fieldwork. Some lifting may be necessary, typically up to 10 pounds.
