Job Summary

Under the supervision of a radiologist, performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations according to established protocols. Provides efficient and effective patient care in the production of high-quality diagnostic MRI examinations. Demonstrates a high level of customer service, adhering to the Kaiser Permanente mission and philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reviews orders and daily schedules, consulting with radiologists and physicians as necessary to confirm correct exams.
  • Performs MRI studies according to established protocols, consulting with radiologists as needed for alternative imaging sequences.
  • Utilizes knowledge, skills, and abilities required for patient care, including routine and emergent examinations in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Maintains patient safety and ensures accuracy of information and data entry.
  • Provides service-oriented communications with patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain patient history, and conduct imaging screens.
  • Positions patients as required for requested exams and uses appropriate coils and sequences for desired examinations or procedures.
  • Assumes responsibilities for patient needs during procedures, including venipuncture and administration of contrast material.
  • Maintains all materials and linen supplies on a daily basis and ensures the general order and cleanliness of the assigned room.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of MRI work experience within the last three years.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist License (Oregon) or Registered Radiologic Technologist (Washington) certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging required at hire.
