Job Overview

The Arc Madison Cortland is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to enhance our finance department. This position is crucial for the financial closing and reporting activities of the Agency and its affiliates, collaborating closely with fellow accounting professionals and program teams.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for executing a variety of accounting functions, including reconciliations and financial reporting for the Agency and its affiliates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage SNAP funding processes and corresponding general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and submit Rep Payee reports accurately.
  • Handle invoicing, collections, and resolve issues for congregate care and Integrated Business divisions.
  • Conduct review, analysis, and documentation of petty cash card transactions.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly journal entries with necessary documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and strong data analysis capabilities are essential. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with general business principles and experience in a multi-company environment is preferred. Knowledge of OMH, Medicaid, state funding streams, and various billing and accounting software, including CFR preparation, is advantageous.
