Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lender to join our team at First National Bank of Oneida. As a Senior Lender, you will be responsible for originating all types of loans, promoting the bank and its lending services to the community, and identifying and serving the community's financial needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel to solicit first mortgage and home equity loans through referral partners and community activities.
  • Meet with customers and prospective customers at various locations.
  • Complete loan applications and pre-processing functions, including obtaining necessary documentation from prospective clients.
  • Inform prospective clients of bank underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.
  • Screen loan requests based on bank policies and loan types.
  • Propose and review loan options with prospective clients.
  • Research new legislation and regulations affecting residential lending policies and ensure compliance.
  • Answer phone calls and schedule appointments.
  • Communicate complex approvals or denials to borrowers, real estate agents, or builders.
  • Distribute market data, rate flyers, and loan information to the real estate community.
  • Promote and participate in special credit programs and CRA initiatives.
  • Participate in local business and community activities and maintain close contact with local builders, real estate brokers, and agents.
Requirements
  • Five+ years of lending experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Finance or three years of equivalent work experience.
  • Above-average knowledge of banking industry practices, policies, regulations, and laws related to lending.
  • Solid working knowledge of bank compliance requirements and Fair Lending laws and regulations.
  • Solid computer literacy with accurate data entry skills and proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to stay current on operational, product, and system changes and demonstrate good risk management decisions.
  • High level of initiative, thoroughness, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take ownership of issues until they are resolved.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • High level of confidentiality required.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects with varied deadlines.
Work Environment
  • This position requires frequent travel to solicit sales.
  • Work involves eye strain due to computer screen use and document reading.
  • Work involves concentration in distracting work conditions.
  • Work involves lifting and moving loan files up to 15 lbs.
  • Work involves some travel for meetings, trainings, and real estate office visits.
