Piedmont Pulmonary Inpatient Critical Care Nights - Advanced Practice Provider

Job Summary:

Piedmont is seeking a highly skilled Pulmonary Inpatient Critical Care Nights Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. As a critical care team member, you will assist in the management of critically ill patients in the hospital, applying specialized skills and knowledge related to ICU, CCU, and CVICU settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within institutional guidelines and utilizing evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the patient's physician.
  • Obtain patient health histories and complete physical examinations, documenting findings in accordance with hospital requirements.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to patients, their families, staff, and healthcare learners.
  • Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on patient clinical status and document procedures in accordance with hospital requirements.
  • Interface patients with monitoring and instrumentation equipment, directing and educating others in performing the same functions.
  • Formulate and implement a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending backup physician(s), documenting in medical records and appropriate narrative summaries.
  • Incorporate clinical research findings in the development and implementation of standards of care.
  • Support IRB-approved clinical research/trials through various activities, including obtaining consent and documenting and reporting patient outcomes, including toxicities or adverse events.
  • Participate in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and education consultant to nursing, members of the healthcare team, and the larger community.
  • Assess educational needs, plan, provide, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and community.
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership and experience with coordinating and managing complex and multifaceted projects.
  • Demonstrate a high level of motivation to learn and participate in activities to improve patient care.
  • Exhibit skill and ability in electronic medical records applications.
  • Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with team members and patients.
  • Understand legal issues that influence the practice of Advanced Practice Providers.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
  • Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP).
